Implementation in the 1st period (autumn term). |
Osaamistavoitteet |
After the course, students can model kinetics and dynamics of bio-technical processes (mainly fermentation) starting from the process phenomena and mass balance models. They also understands the limitations of different approaches and the modelling assumptions. They also have preliminary skills to develop models in Matlab/Simulink environment. In addition, students understand fundamentals on monitoring and optimization of bioprocesses with respect to energy, economic, and environmental issues. |

Bioreactors: models, kinetics and transfer phenomena. Models: different modelling approaches with examples. Measurements and control aspects in fermentation processes. |

Contact lectures, individual work and home tests (one per week). |
Toteutustavat |
The course is given within the period of five weeks. Laboratory exercises include computational exercises and writing the report. |
