Learning outcomes 

After passing the course the student should have ability to safe,   efficient and cost effective drug therapy. The student should understand the basis for drug therapy from the point of view of general practitioner and the treatment of most common intoxications.


Factors affecting drug selection, dosage and therapy will be discussed applying knowledge of basic pharmacology. Furthermore, the common problem cases of drug therapy will be discussed. Individualized therapy, use of major classes of drugs, special treatment situations and most common intoxications will also be discussed.


Learning activities and teaching methods 

Introductory lecture 2 hours. Clinical pharmacology patient case report and discussion with tutor. Thematic seminars (11 x 2 h) will cover major areas of drug therapy and special situations of drug treatment and most common intoxications. Final exam.

Assessment methods and criteria 

Preparation of acceptable clinical pharmacology patient case, discussion with the tutor and passing of the final exam.
